SUMMER 2002
The flower beds are looking very colourful
this time of the year. Many of the seeds I used this year were
'freebies' attached to the weekly paper Garden News and I must
say they have proved to be of very good value. I found the 'Statice'
a particularly good cutting flower, lasting more than 2 weeks
before looking a bit faded. The Canterberry Bells suffered in
the wet but the lasting display of the Rudbeckia 'Becky mixed'
has more than made up for it. I always save a few flower heads
of the French Marigolds and this give me plenty of seed for the
next year.
The following photos are just a few
of the summer veggies. It has been a good growing year and I am
particularly pleased with the Celeriac (which in other years has
mostly run to seed) and the Swede.
|

- Swede - 'Ruby'
|

- Celeriac - 'Prinz'
|
|

- Beetroot 'Tardel'
|

- Sprouts 'Brilliant'
|
Sweetcorn - 'Minimop' |
