Elson Allotment is situated at Gosport in Hampshire and has various facilities to offer including a well-run shop providing all the essential needs for the keen allotment gardener. Compost, fertilisers, insecticides etc., and a full range of accessories. Seeds, bulbs, onion sets, potatoes etc., can be ordered at the beginning of each season. We are members of the Gosport Allotment Holders and Gardeners Association which means goods can be purchased in bulk and the savings passed on to the members. Membership is just £5 per year from 2007. (You do not have to have an allotment to become a member.) There is a large on-site car park at the Amberley Road entrance. Water is laid on at 4 positions on the main centre pathway making it reasonable access for all. Plots are available in either 5 or 10 rods.
This is a small friendly site with approximately 40 plots and even boasts a Wild-Life area which is being created from what was a very derelict area, by our site warden Mrs Pat Clipstone. Pat aims to make this a peaceful area to sit and relax and enjoy the surroundings and has already made great headway. She has been rewarded for her efforts by achieving 3rd place in the 1999 Gosport in Bloom competition.
Other Sites are available in Gosport and further information for other areas can be obtained from any Local Government Offices. Please click here for a list of Gosport Sites and Wardens. also information regarding Elson and local site issues. This is updated regularly.

This
is Ted's plot, he has been gardening for many years and has a
wealth of knowledge under his 'cap'. Ted's tip - start and finish
at the same pace to avoid undue strain.
June 2000 and Ted's plot is full of goodies. Potatoes, Onions, Broad Beans, Cabbage, Lettuce, Beetroot etc.
February 2001. Ted has been getting under way
with his Winter digging despite the very wet conditions.
Marge and her late husband have worked this plot for many years. Continuing on her own, Marge has become renowned for her onions and pumpkins which are enjoyed by many residents of Gosport at Harvest Fesitval time.
July, 2000. Marge celebrated her 80th Birthday this year and is still with us working her plot. This Verbascum has seeded itself on her plot and Marge has grown it on to become a fine specimen.
- November/December 2001. Marge is continueing to work her plot and still producing some very fine crops which many of her friends enjoy. We wish her well and hope she will have many more years of good gardening with us.

Steve works and maintains his plot at week-ends only. Growing enough produce to feed his family very well. He has recently taken on a second plot next to his, which we await in anticipation to see what he makes of it. Steve also has a family of foxes residing on his plot and takes a great interest in them, providing them with tasty tit-bits from time to time
In March, Steve under went major liver transplant surgery. He has been back with us and working on his plot since early May. His second plot is coming along very well and he is already picking Broad Beans.
June,2000
Carol and Dawn both in their early 20s' have never gardened before and turned their over-grown plot into a very productive site, growing a varied selection of vegetables. An inspiration to us all.
July, 2000. Sadly Dawn and Carol have left us for pastures
new but their plot has been taken over by another young couple
Rachael and Mike who are keen to carry on their good work. I will
bring you news of their progress.
12th July and Rachael has already brought colour to Elson by painting her old Anderson shed - A Masterpiece. We look forward to seeing what other talents they might have to brighten up our site.
